What, or who, has saved your life?

Posted on Aug 17th, 2008 by Kate : xnotreallyx Kate
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 17, 2008:

Discipline has saved my life.  It has shown me the power behind persistence and the meaning of love.

Most of the time, my emotions tell me to be lazy and discipline has pushed me to work harder.  It brings significance to my life.  It can be the reasoned force behind my emotional instincts.

Discipline guides me to a better life.

I agree completely. Discipline is one of the best examples of positive stress. It saves my life time and time again when I am struggling with a bout of depression or anxiety. The negativity only occurs when I am lazy and stop taking action to live out healthy routines, like exercising, or keeping in touch with old friends. That's when it happens, the sad solitary life style: sleeping in the middle of the day, eating to drown out the loneliness. we've all been there at one time or another. Discipline takes us out of that horrendous cycle. The best weeks of my life are when I am physically active, work up a sweat, have done something for someone else. Perhaps discipline and appreciation for the little things in life have saved my life. I am a work in progress. I need some discipline even as I type this.
